History

The community began as "Bradford's Ordinary" in 1750. The sleepy settlement would forever change after the arrival of the North Carolina Railroad a century later. It would be renamed Cary to honor an Ohio congressman and prohibitionist that an area farmer particularly admired. A second rail line was constructed through the area in 1879, thus spurring additional development.

A special Lazy Daze playground greets youthful attendees. This late April event is held to coincide with Earth Day, and there are a number of Earth Day-related activities at the festival.
